Baader Universal Alan Gee II Telecompressor
The Baader Universal Alan Gee II Telecompressor is the only Schmidt-Cassegrain telecompressor/reducer and flatfield corrector that was designed to also work with a Binoviewer.
A binoviewer with T-2 thread, like the MaxBright II or Mark V Giant Binocular, can be attached to the Universal Alan Gee II (UAGII). The distance to the eyepieces is then about 120mm.
The standard Alan Gee Telecompressor was designed as a reducer for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, which also offers a flat field. The UAGII puts the optical elements of the standard Alan Gee in a 2" nose piece with an additional T-2 thread on the telescope side.
The Universal Alan Gee II can be directly attached to all Baader T-2 star diagonals with the included Baader T-2/7.5mm extension tube. You need a T-2 eyepiece clamp and, depending on the desired distance/reduction factor, a T-2-extension. The UAGII should be as close to the telescope as possible, so the optional Baader T Adapter (BTA) for SC and MAK Telescopes (T-2 part #21) are recommended.
You may also use the UAGII with a camera up to APS-C sensor size. The distance between the UAGII and camera should be 121mm. For photography, the Alan Gee Telecompressor Mark II is still recommended since the UAGII was designed to be placed inside the baffle of a Schmidt-Cassegrain.
